Healthy Lunchtime
Behaviors
-
Plan your lunch the
night before work or school. Have the ingredients on hand.
-
Plan to have
leftovers at dinnertime to eat at lunch the next day. After
dinner, pack the leftovers in individual containers.
Refrigerate and pack your lunch before you leave in the
morning.
-
Do you know you eat
less if you SIT when you eat? So take time, relax, and have
a seat. I know - easier said than done - Right?
-
When you have the
opportunity, take 20 minutes to finish your meal. That's how
long it takes for the message to reach your brain that you
are full. Take small mouthfuls and chew, chew, and chew. If
you crave a desert after your meal, wait 10 minutes and I
bet you'll forget about including that sweet treat.
-
If you do the
grocery shopping, don't buy unhealthy foods to tempt your
family. Have your tweens help you with the grocery shopping
and buy foods that are NUTRICIZED!
-
Pack crackers,
pretzels, and popcorn in small snack bags to limit portion
sizes.
-
Skip the soda pop
and make the switch to 100% fruit juice or water. Your
child's school should have a water container in their
cafeteria for free water.
