Make it Easy to Move
-
Lunchtime is a
great time to pack 10-15 minutes of activity into your day.
-
Make sure your child wears comfortable shoes so he/she can
play a recess. Keep a comfortable pair of walking shoes at
work so you are always ready to add that extra 10-15 minutes
of exercise each day. Ten minutes add up during the day for
health benefits.
-
Ask your tween's teacher if her/his class can take movement
breaks in the classroom. Maybe the class can walk through
the school halls or classroom on a cold day, or around the
building on a nice day.
-
Move your blood for better brain power. Ask your child's
teacher to create 5-10 minute stretching exercises or 'move
in place' routines to perform in class. Incorporate these
same movements at your work.
-
During work meetings, take an activity break between topics
or sessions. Pull up a YouTube video of dance steps. Stretch
your arms over your head, then extend you arms to your sides
and stretch. Hey, this would work for your teens, also.
Here's a thought - have THEM teach YOU their dances, then
YOU teach THEM your dances!
