One For Me...One For You
Doggy Bone Squeaky Toy

I made these squeaky doggy toys for our FurRaiser.  And everybody - ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY - loved them.  BTW - Zac Tanner decorated one of the bones! OMG!!! He's soooo cute!!!

I bought a remnant of fleece that had doggy paw prints OMG!!! all over it to use as one of the sides of the doggy toy.

And then I found a piece of plain off-white canvas material.  So I made one of the sides of the doggy bone from canvas material and the other side from fleece.

Here's the GREAT thing about canvas!  It's strong for doggy toys, plus you can decorate it with markers (permanent non-toxic markers).

Here's what YOU will need:

  • Plain off-white or light colored canvas so you can draw on it

  • Fleece for one side

  • Permanent non-toxic markers in assorted colors

  • Polyester fiberfill for stuffing

  • Squeaker (I can't find these in any fabric store, so search for dog toy squeakers online)

Here's How YOU Can Do it:

1. Click here for the pattern. Enlarge the pattern if you want to.  BTW - I made Daisy a HUGE bone that she LUVS!!!

2. Cut out 2 bones. Cut out one side from fleece and one side from plain canvas.

3. Put two right sides together and sew, leaving a 2-inch opening for turning the bone right side out. Cut a tiny slit by the end of your sewing line.  You can see the 2 slits in the picture.

4. Turn the bone, right sides out.  See how the area that you slit stands up?

5. Wrap the squeaker in polyester fiberfill and place in the bone (wherever you want to).  Then stuff the bone so it's nice and firm.

6. Turn that little edge under and sew by hand really tight.

7. The finished edge should look like this - both the edges are tucked in so your dog can't pull the bone apart.

5. See how nice the bones look?  You can tell I grabbed Daisy's old orange bone, because there's a puppy tooth mark (or 2) in it!!!

6. Decorate the plain canvas side of the bone with non-toxic permanent markers.

Here's a picture of the fleece side of the bone. Bowsie decorated the plain canvas side of Daisy's bone and she plays with it ALL THE TIME.

"Okay Daisy, I'll give you back your bone!" Look at Daisy with her bone!!!

Here's another picture of Daisy with another bone I made for her out of OMG!!! paw print fleece!!!

And now you are DONE!

Now it’s up to you to create your VERY OWN original!!!
